Just for you …
Commission a Painting
A commissioned painting just might be the ideal way to finally have that perfect piece of art in your space. Do you have a magical moment you experienced that you would love to have commemorated, or maybe you have a special vacation spot you love? Is there someone in your life you want to give a unique customized gift? Or maybe you simply love one of my paintings but it has already sold or is just not the right size.
I am happy to work with you to create your customized piece of art!
Let’s get started on this journey together …
Your vision, my creativity
A commissioned work of art holds a distinct and exceptional charm because it represents a harmonious blend of the artist's craftsmanship and the client’s imagination, resulting in a truly individual and emotionally resonant creation. It will be custom-crafted to mirror your dreams and life experiences.
Our collaborative journey will be shared together. I’m confident that having a commissioned painting done for you will foster a profound connection and a sense of ownership that will transform your custom artwork into a beloved treasure with much significance.
If you have a photo that you wish me to create a painting from, please send it to me. Working from reference photos is my specialty!
Please read the most Frequently Asked Questions below …

To begin the process, read all these FAQs and fill out the form below. We will then have a free consultation via phone or email to discuss your ideas. We will discuss topics such as reference photos to be used, composition, size, colours and general painting style. After that conversation, next steps will be discussed.
Working from reference photos is my specialty, so I would appreciate a photo sent to me if you have one.
I am happy to take initial direction from you during the consultation process. Once we both feel confident with the direction, then I will take the lead on the creative process and outcome.

Commissioned paintings will reflect the style of my most current work. Please have a look at my Paintings Folder - see the navigation menu at the top of the page - to see my recent paintings.
Before we agree on what will be painted, I will send you a digital version of what the painting will look like.
If you are looking for a drastically different style or subject matter, I will decline the commission and refer you to a different artist (for example, I do not paint portraits).

My commission rates are $2.80/sq inch. I accept commissions that are a minimum of 24x24” (576 sq inch).
Depending on your location (province, country), applicable taxes will apply. For example, if in BC - PST + GST will apply.
A 50% deposit will be required before I begin painting.
Preferred payment method is etransfer. However, I can also accept payment via PayPal (credit cards).
-
We’ve all seen paintings on a wall that are simply too small or too big for the space - it just looks wrong! I can help you with this process - you can always email me a photo of where you wish the finished painting to live and I can do a digital mock up of a sample painting in your space.
As a general rule, when hanging a painting over a bed or couch it should measure about 75% of the width of the furniture. For example, a couch that is 100 inches wide should have a painting above it that is about 75 inches wide.

I will email you a quote that will have the commission contract details. A 50% deposit is required to save your spot in line and before I begin your painting. Please read the contract prior to sending payment, as the deposit will confirm our contract. Invoices will be provided for all payments.
Note: In general, deposits are non-refundable. However, I want you to be happy and absolutely LOVE your finished painting. If you are not and wish to pull out, plus the painting is of a subject matter consistent with my usual west coast theme and I could sell it in my local market, then I would consider refunding your deposit.

if you wish to see step by step photos of your painting in progress, I can send you photos along the way. Or we can wait until its mostly done before you see it. It’s up to you!

Depending on how many commissions are in line before you, my turnaround time for completion will be ~ 4-6 weeks.
Once the painting is completed, you will be invited to view the painting for approval - either in person or via photos/video. When you have approved the painting, the remaining 50% will be due before the work is released.
The painting will be created with oil paints which need to dry and then it will be varnished. The drying time will add an additional ~2 weeks. Shipping time will be on top of this.
-
I can provide you with a quote for shipping before we begin. The price will be based on the size of the canvas and your location. Otherwise local pick-up from my studio or delivery in the Victoria area is an option.

The artist always retains copyright of all their art and may use it for reproduction purposes and/or marketing. Despite you owning the original painting, you are not legally allowed to reproduce it in any form. If you wish to have reproductions or art cards made of your painting, I am happy to assist you with this.
